These slim doors originated from Fujian and are approx. 60-80 years old. The vertical strips have nice angular profiles, and the carvings at the top are a bottle gourd on the left and a fan on the right. The fan is a symbol of wealth and status, while the bottle gourd symbolizes protection and blessings, this is because the Chinese word for bottle gourd 葫芦 hú lu) sounds similar to the Chinese word for protect 护 (hù).
