Antique Shanxi Blanket Chest Low Sideboard

This antique low blanket chest from Shanxi province features raised flange design on both ends of the tabletop. Its beautiful original reddish brown colour is finished in a clear semi-matte lacquer, the chest offers a symmetrical front with two top drawers, a central double-door compartment, and two lower relief-carved panels. The left panel depicts a carved crane (longevity) among foliage, while the right panel depicts a deer (prosperity0 under a pine tree. The overhanging ends is supported by carvings with grapevines, complemented by an intricate openwork carved apron along the base.
