Carved Slim Fujian Sideboard in Distressed Grey

A slim long sideboard from Fujian with carved panels and a slatted base. Originally finished in the black, red, and gold palette, this piece has been repainted in a distressed cool grey due to damage to the original lacquer.

Constructed from elm and pine with carved camphor wood panels. The two panels that are flanking the central doors have through carving, and depict opera characters in a garden setting. Relief carvings of the Buddhist swastika (万字纹) adorn the outer left and right doors, while the remaining panels feature floral and leaf motifs.
