In Chinese culture, bamboo symbolizes strength and endurance, it yields to the strongest winds without breaking, making it popular amongst Confucian scholars who admired these virtues.
This piece features the more refined construction method where the legs are made by binding several bamboo pieces together, rather than using one thicker growth. The horizontal surface is finished with black lacquer.
