This exceptional square rice scoop bears the owner’s name “裕丰堂记” (Yufeng Hall Company), loosely translated as “Prosperous Harvest Establishment,” and is dated to the 8th year of Emperor Jiaqing’s reign (1804), making this piece more than 220 years old.
It has beautifully executed cast iron details around the corners and top rim that showcase refined craftsmanship. The cast iron corner reinforcements may have been added during later repairs, telling the story of a piece that was treasured and maintained throughout its long history.
