Antique Chaozhou Carved Table

This antique carved table originated from Chaozhou, China, and features characteristic gold-gilded carvings. The front is configured with five drawers, each featuring a distinct bulbous, raised carved panel. The raised panels on the small drawers are in the shapes of scrolls and fans. The lower apron and spandrels are adorned with elaborate floral and scrollwork relief carvings.

The table retains its original dark reddish-brown lacquer colour, and we had finished it with a clear semi-matte lacquer, which provides a bold contrast to the gilded carvings. The tabletop exhibits natural surface wear, including fine hairline cracks and a weathered lacquer patina consistent with its age.
