An old carved long bench made of Fir wood, from Chaozhou (Teochew), approx. 80-100 years old. The front is filled with beautiful carvings of auspicious meaning.
On both corners of the curved legs are bats, which symbolize good fortune.
There are fruits like pomegranate and the Buddha’s citron, which represent fertility & good luck respectively. Cranes & pine trees represent longevity, and the deers in the middle represent prosperity. There are vases throughout the front, vases symbolize peace because the Chinese words for vase & peace sounds alike.
