Old Carved Long Bench from Chaozhou

An old carved long bench made of Fir and Camphor wood, from Chaozhou (Teochew), approx. 100-120 years old. The front is filled with beautiful and deep carvings of branches and flowers of cherry blossoms stretching across the entire length of the bench. The birds are magpies and they are also known as the bearers of good news. With the magpies and cherry blossom together, it signify that spring time is here, the Lunar New Year is near, the weather is getting warmer, flowers are blooming and overall a very happy atmosphere.
