A beautiful antique lacquered sideboard from Shanxi province, China, approx. 120 years old.
The red lacquer has aged into a deep, lustrous tone, rich yet softly worn in all the right places. The façade is painted with scenes of children and ladies gathered within a garden setting, with mountain landscapes visible in the distance. Though many parts of the painting have naturally faded over time, the imagery remains discernible, and the gentle patina lends the piece warmth, charm and authenticity.
