Vintage Fujian Carved Sideboard in Natural Wood Colour

This vintage carved sideboard from Fujian province is approximately 80-100 years old. Originally finished in red and gold, the paintwork had suffered considerable damage over time. We carefully removed the old paint to reveal the beautiful natural wood beneath—a transformation that allows the intricate floral carvings to truly shine with remarkable clarity and depth.

Fujian cabinets are traditionally crafted from a combination of Elm and Fir wood, with carved panels made of Camphor wood. This type of sideboard features one particularly distinctive characteristic: its tabletop is fashioned from a single plank of Ficus wood.

As is common with solid thick planks, the tabletop displays some natural crack lines caused by humidity fluctuations over the decades. These have been repaired and touched up.
