This was altered from a taller cabinet and the framework had been repainted to a distressed teal blue colour. However, the brass handles, the colours on the carving and painting, and the internal drawers are original.

The Chinese words on the doors are: 文章在乎外，锦绣在其中. This roughly translates to: “One should always act with morality & virtue, in this way you will always find good things amongst the things you do”.
