This medium-sized cabinet originated from Shandong province and is approx. 80-100 years old. The reddish brown colour is its original colour, and this has been retained and protected with an overall semi-matte clear lacquer.
There are many interesting elements in the carvings:
On the middle drawer, there is a longevity symbol flanked by two hornless dragons. On the other two drawers are carvings of the Buddhist swastika.
On the main door panels are through-carvings of deer & cherry blossoms, symbolising prosperity and good fortune. Down the sides are carvings of flowers in vases, from top to bottom: peony, lotus & cherry blossom.
This is an extremely versatile & functional cabinet, it can work in the living room, dining room, bedroom or even study!
