Old Kitchen Cabinet from Zhejiang, China. Repainted in Stone Blue
This kitchen cabinet originated from Zhejiang province, and is approx. 80-100 years old. This is a very signature design of the kitchen cabinet from that region. The original colour of these cabinets were usually dark brown or reddish brown, but the colour on this one was badly damaged, so we had repainted it into a semi-gloss Stone Blue colour. All the doors are slatted to allow air circulation, and gauze was stuck on the back of doors to prevent flies from touching the food kept inside. The bottom 2 shelves have sliding doors and slatted shelves to store “wet” items so that moisture can drip down; it was believed live poultry was kept in those bottom compartments.
Behind the doors, the height of the top shelf is 33cm, with an additional 12cm when you go inside; the bottom shelf is 21cm tall.
Overall dimensions = L113 x D51 x H189cm.
