Chaozhou Black & Gold Washbasin Cabinet

An old black & gold carved washbasin cabinet from Chaozhou, approx. 80-100 years old. This slim cabinet has carvings of Chinese as well as Western influences, hinting that this may be from the early Republic era.

The bulbous panels in the bottom section is distinctly Chaozhou (Teochew) and the paintings are original. This is finished with a clear semi-matte lacquer, and some touch-ups have been done to the gold gilt details. The mirror in the middle has been replaced.
