This pair of stone lions are reproductions and they are hand carved in Shanxi by craftsmen familiar with the antique Shanxi style, which is much less common than the Beijing-style lions. There is one male and one female lion, but unlike the Beijing lions where the male lion has one paw on a ball and the female lion has one paw on a cub, for the Shanxi lions, the ball & cub are on their backs instead of at their paws. A beautifully made pair of lions.
Each lion measures W12 x D16 x H29cm.
