A Pair of Doors With Painting of Opera Characters

Original price was: $1,800.00.Current price is: $1,000.00.

This pair of doors originated from Fujian province, and is approx. 60-80 years old. The painting and colour of these doors are original, and we had finished it with a semi-matte clear lacquer. There were originally more mirror pieces that decorate their headgear, costumes and belts, but right now only the row of mirrors across their foreheads remain. At first glance, you might mistake them for traditional temple Door Gods, but look closer – the right figure is female, which led us to believe that they could be the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother of the West. This is reinforced by the Chinese character 王, which means king, on the tiger’s forehead on the male’s costume.
This is a very interesting pair of door panels that can be hung as wall decor, or converted into cabinet doors. These are now at 40% off.
Dimensions per door: L59 x D4 x H215cm (overall height including protruding hinges = 218cm)
